Boots/Benefit Buys

I had a job interview recently and afterwards went to boots to treat myself. I actually got the job - soooo delighted to have left my last one. I was in boots a couple of months ago and they had a benefit deal on - four minis for €20. At the time I didn't take advantage of it, so I was delighted it was still on. My graduation is coming up and I was hoping to get a few bits for it.
And yes, I did take down an ornamental Christmas tree just for the purpose of the photo. Now I don't want to put it away, aaah excited for Christmas!!

Firstly though, it comes in a stocking, that made me way too happy. Going to keep the stocking and shove my sisters Christmas presents in it, making it look like I put so much more effort into it - haha, thanks Benefit.
I picked up high beam, which I've been mad to try since it first came out, their brightening primer, bad girl lash and the triple performing facial emulsion. I actually just watched Wayne Goss' video about using emulsion so that your foundation looks flawless, so excited to try that.

I think it's such a great idea to be able to get the minis without paying the full wack for a full size. The only benefit product I've ever bought is the "They're Real Mascara", I repurchased it twice because I absolutely loved it but after that I couldn't justify spending €27 on a mascara when you can get one in the chemist for a tenner! That being said that's also the problem with minis, if you end up loving them you'll want the full size. Goddamn.

Just because, I also wanted to show the heels I bought, aren't they beauuuutiful. I have the exact same ones in nude. Only got them before the summer but I've worn the sh*t out of them and they're a mess, so thought I'd try them in black for a change, although I was sooo close to re-purchasing the nude - they're so elegant looking, and so affordable at €35. I probably will get the nude again.

I usually hate spending anything but am actually really happy with the few bits I picked up. Can't wait to try out the new makeup for my graduation!

See ya.

Halloween is here

Halloween is my favourite time of year. I'm one of those people that really struggles to pick a favourite time of year. Every season seems to be my preferred one, until the next one comes around and then I change my mind, but overall I think Halloween has to be the best holiday! I love everything about Halloween; it's when we really see the transition into Autumn, the open fires become a daily thing, pumpkins begin popping up everywhere, YOU GET TO DRESS UP and especially the fact that it becomes acceptable to wear the kind of clothes I would like to wear all the time!

When I walk into a shop and see all the Halloween decorations my first thought is, when I have my own home, I'll decorate it with that stuff year round - glass potion bottles, glittery skulls, black candelabras. And like I've already mentioned... the clothes. Unsurprisingly, October is probably my favourite time of year to go shopping.

I'm absolutely loving h&ms Halloween stock this year, whyyyy can't Ireland have online shopping!? I rarely visit the nearest town with a h&m but I think I'll have to make a dedicated trip so I don't miss out. I don't just mean just costume-y clothes - the items I purchase would more than likely be staples in my wardrobe for the next year so it would be a shame to miss out. Like, it's completely acceptable to wear a bat bodysuit all year round yeah?!

I've been sifting through the Halloween section of all my favourite online sites to find some gems, thought I'd share some with you.

Now I need to get myself off to the shops to purchase some of these beauties! Happy Halloween alllll.

Sunday, 30 August 2015

It's been almost a year since I posted on here, don't know where the time has gone.  I have serious respect for actual bloggers who manage to keep a blog on top of everything going on in their lives. So much has changed since October 2014, I don't even know where to start.

I have finished college, something I thought I couldn't wait for. Now though, I just wish I could do it all over again. I should warn you I'm a very negative person, and now look back on the last couple of years with regrets and all the things I wish I'd done and honestly my four years in university were a waste - I had a lot of fun but have come to the realisation I don't want a job in zoology. Zoos - cruel (my personal opinion). I don't want to work for an organisation like the ISPCA because I just couldn't deal with the animal cruelty, it would definitely be to much for me.

I had so much hope for when I finished uni, what an idiot. I'm now working in a job that makes me want to die. Yes I am very dramatic, but I'm really not happy with where I am in my life right now. The only thing getting me by is my plans for a years time - going to work my arse off and save enough money to go back to college and do what I actually wanted to do from the begining; makeup artistry and beauty therapy, (pretty much what the majority of young girls are doing in college these days!) .. which is why I feel like I should just delete this blog. I had intended on starting a fashion and beauty blog but lets be real, I failed! Even though I'd still love to, this year I will be saving every penny and so there won't be much buying of clothes and beauty products. Even so, I think I'll keep this here.

My own place to vent my frustration and worry, because it's the only place I can.

Changing up my everyday look - Winged Eyeliner

Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Liner

I posted an everyday makeup a few weeks ago. In the last week though, I've changed it again. In my early-mid teens, my everyday makeup consisted of a winged eye. I used to spend so long in the mornings before school trying to get each side to match. It was  pointless by the way, because very annoyingly I have one eye that's much more hooded than the other. It's a pain in the A*se because one eye looks smaller than the other!! It also means that my winged eyeliner never looks even. I know with a hooded eye, winged eyeliner is out of the question but I decided if I like a winged eye, I'm going to wear one regardless.

So for a couple of years that's what I wore on a daily basis. Eventually I grew out of it, as you do. One day my liquid liner ran out and I just didn't buy another one. I moved onto gel eyeliner and then started to leave it out altogether. Last week I was in boots and saw the old liquid liner I used to use and decided to buy it for old times sake. Turns out I really like it... again.

Liner directly after applying

Liner 7 hours later

The eyeliner I use is Rimmel Exaggerate Eye liner. I wonder if they've changed the formula in recent years though, because it's not how I remembered it. I used to be able to layer it if I'd missed out on places, but now if I try and layer, it just flakes of what's underneath, so I'm not liking that. Other than that though it's a great liner. Stays on all day. As you can see from the picture it looks pretty much the same seven hours after I applied it - doesn't fade or smudge, and it's matte black. Not too pricey either. The applicator is a really good shape and quite sturdy which it makes it so easy and quick to apply. I hate the ones that are very thin and flimsy, so they move all over the place when you're trying to put it on! I'm thinking I'm going to be loving the winged eye for the next while.

bye for now.

Small haul

Over the past couple of weeks I've picked up a small few bits, so I thought I'd share.

The jumper is from Vera Moda. It's so cosy looking and I've never had a jumper with a neck like that so I thought it would be a nice change for Winter.I can just imagine being snuggled in it with jeans and a nice pair of boots.
The black joggers are from Tesco, I've been wanting something light and comfy that I could wear to college. You know those days you don't want to be wearing jeans, you just want something loose? Well that's where these come in.

The oxblood flats are also from Tesco. Was just in, late one evening picking up a few bits for dinner and they caught my eye. I don't actually like flats where your foot is exposed. I don't know why, I'm not even one of those people creeped out by feet, but I just think it looks odd when you're wearing flats but you can still see most of your foot.. I don't know okay! I thought these were so lovely so I decided to give them a try. I've had them two weeks and am yet to wear them though. I think it was just the colour I liked so much!

And the brogues. In a past shoe wishlist I mentioned these babies, and I also mentioned that I've never actually bought any items I've been lusting after online before. That is, until now. I was so delighted to order them with the last of birthday money. But, it turned out to be such a fecking nuisance that I almost regret it! I got them in a four, but they were too small. So I sent them back and had to wait on the refund before I could order the five. Finally I ordered the five, but they were delivered to my dads business and I wasn't told. When I finally got them, they were too big and were outside the 14 days returns policy. Such a nightmare. But I've kept them and am wearing them anyway because I love them so much, the main thing is that they look sooo pretty. Just a pity about the sizing. I'll just have to wear big socks!

On a side note I think we've established my favourite colours for the season. Maroon oxblood burgundy aubergine. Straight away I'm drawn to anything in these colours!

But honestly, from now on I'm avoiding the shops. Until I get a job (which seems like a joke at this stage) I'm going to just have to walk by Topshop without a sideways glance, because I can't keep walking through the shop and picking out all the items I want, it's getting so depressing. Especially with all the gorge Autumn/Winter Coats that are out. They are everything.

Bye for now.

I think it's time ...

Loving the bob/long bob.
I've always kept my hair long. I'm forever growing my hair. I never feel it's long enough. I see people, or pictures of people with long wavy hair or a high pony tail that goes the whole way down the back and I get complete hair envy. I want my hair to look like that. Yano those pictures, they always pop up around Spring/Summer of girls with gorgeous, long shiny wavy hair.. eugh. I want that hair.
Actually my hair is quite long. I haven't got it cut properly since 2012. I only go for very minute trims every 6 months to a year. I know that isn't often enough but I hate getting my hair cut. They always take so much off.

My hair has been so many colours and styles, but almost always long.

I got it cut quite short (well, short for me) Christmas of 2011. I actually really liked it.
Even though it's long now, I'm still not happy with it. So all that being said, I think I need a hair cut. Like, a proper haircut! Ever get that feeling? You just need to completely change something about yourself, and your hair seems like the perfect thing. Because if you hate it, at least it will grow back.. eventually!
I'm really feeling the long bob. I've seen so many people with this hair cut and it looks so stunning. Well, it looks stunning on them because they all seem to be such stunning people. The styles in the photos above are particular versions I like, they all look amazing. And yes, I know I have Fearne Cotton twice, because that's just how beautiful her hair is. During freshers week in college I picked up a half-off haircut voucher, so maybe it's time to use it, - scared.

The problem is, there is so much variation with a bob. Long or short. Layered or all the one length. Fringe or no fringe or side-fringe even. How are you supposed to choose?!
I'm going to have another little think about this, and I will get back to you.

Byee for now.

What's in my makeup bag(s)

I actually have two makeup bags that I use on a daily basis. One is a really old Barry M one I got from my sister. She must have got it free in a magazine absolutely years ago, the dirt of it! I like it so much because of the size, plus I can't be bothered to buy a new one. The other bag is a bigger one that I got off a friend, and the print is so pretty.

I use the smaller of them for my everyday bits, and the larger one for everything that doesn't fit in to the small one- my palettes and brushes basically. I actually have a third one which is bigger again but that's just where I keep all the crap I wouldn't usually use.

In my smaller of the two I keep:
  • No7 Stay perfect foundation - I wasn't sure about it, but now I like it. It's supposed to be medium coverage but I would say it's light. Annoyingly, it's too dark for me though and it's in the palest colour they have, so that puts me off. I do think if it was the right shade it would be alright.
  • Seventeen Stay time concealer - I followed the hype and got the Collection concealer that all the bloggers and youtubers were raving about. But honestly I didn't think it was that great. I tried this one next and I really like it. I think it's just as good, if not better than the Collection one and its cheaper so that suits me just fine!
  • Rimmel Kate Mascara - I got this one because I wanted to try a new mascara. I was looking for a cheaper one because I had been constantly buying the "They're Real!" mascara and honestly I just can't bear to keep spending €27 on it. The wand on this Rimmel one is huge though, so I'm forever getting it on my eyelids. Hate that.
  • Benefits They're Real mascara - I absolutely love it but don't have the funds for it anymore. I don't know if anyone else does this, but if I find a mascara I really like, when I finish it I clean the wand really well. Make sure there's no mascara left on it. Then I keep it in my makeup bag. Then when I apply mascara and it goes clumpy, I use the clean wand to brush through it and it usually saves the day.
  • Urban Decay primer potion - I don't use this often though, only on nights out and things like that.
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on eyeliner in Ransom.
  • Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 03 - such a good neutral shade.
  • Revlon lipstick in Black Cherry - Such a good and relatively affordable vampy lipstick. Perfect for Autumn which is why I've thrown mine back into my everyday makeup bag. During the day its really nice if you just pat a bit on the lips and blot it off.  It leaves a really nice stain.
  • Mac lipstick in Creme Cup - One of my favouite lipsticks. My first ever Mac one - I say that like I have loads but I only have too haha.
  • Natural Collection eyeshadow in Walnut
  • Urban Decay eyeshadow in Oil slick. This has been my favourite eyeshadow since my gothy stage when I was fourteen haha.
  • Loreal gel eyeliner - The highstreet/drugstore gel eyeliner that's always talked about is the Maybelline one. I've never tried that one but I don't understand why people don't talk about the Loreal one. I think it's brilliant. It's the first one I ever got and I'd never feel the need to try any other one.
  • Tweezers and eyeliner parer.

As I've said, I keep all the bigger bits in my other makeup bag. Its mostly palettes. I have others but these would be the ones I'd use most:
  • Urban Decay Naked palette
  • Urban Decay Smoked palette
  • Urban Decay Flushed palette - I think it's fairly obvious what my favourite makeup brand is! I always get Urban Decay products for Christmas or birthdays because I can't afford to get them normally, sad.
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eyeliner in Perversion.
  • Essence Powder - I used to get the Rimmel Stay Matt one , again another highly praised product. But the essence one is grand! I just use it on my nose and chin so it does the job, and it's only a few euro in Pennys.
  • Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in Nectar - my mam got convinced into buying this by one of the women at the counter. She never used it and gave it to me, but I wouldn't be a huuuge fan. Tanya Burr has said she loves it for highlighting, but actually I find that the glitter particles are too big in it so it just looks like you've brushed glitter on your cheeks. Maybe that's just me. I do like to use it sometimes but only with a light hand.
  • Real techniques buffing and stippling brush.
  • Real techniques spongs.
  • Anchient (probably from magazines like Sugar (remember reading those!!)) makeup brush and smudgey sponge.
  • Bourjois eyeshadow in 27
  • Mac eyeshadow in Cranberry - Absolutely love this. Haven't used it since last Christmas so I'm excited to get it out again.
  • Razer - Just in case!

That's what I keep in my makeup bags, and a mini review of some of the products,

Byeee for now.
